Caribbean Stopover at St. Thomas of the U.S. Virgin Islands
Jan 2, 2009 Travel, Travel City
One of the most popular ports for cruise ships in the Caribbean from St. Thomas, one of the islands. Of the three Caribbean cruises that I, until today, two of them included a stopover in St. Thomas. In both cases there was a consensus among the other passengers that we have with the St. Thomas was one of the most beautiful islands to visit. Although the leadership of St. Thomas is on the left side is still in the U.S., the island in the Caribbean offers many other amenities to the U.S.. These include the facilitation of the phone lines for calls to the metropolis, the use of U.S. currency and English as main language. St. Thomas is also one of the cleanest in the Caribbean islands and the people are non-aggressive tone of tourists as they are on other islands. Many passengers pointed out that St. Thomas is a place that they would again in the future. During my first visit to St. Thomas, I have the Atlantis submarine tour tourists who have a real ocean reefs. It was a little expensive, but that was expected.
See the reef with an ocean of life in the sea almost for the first time during the trip under water really influenced me to dive. During my second trip to the island, we decided that we have the time for diving in the waters on the spot, because at this time, my partner is not certified divers at this time. My state of research suggests that Coki Bay on the coast north-east of St. Thomas was a good place for snorkeling. When our cruise ship is anchored in Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the United States Virgin Islands, we welcome one of the many taxis at the port. It is a price of 15 U.S. $ to Coki Beach where Coki Bay. It took only 15 minutes. The scenery along the way is wonderful that we are up to a hill and saw our cruise ship in port remote below. The island itself is very lush green everywhere.
At Coki Beach, my partner for the rental of his apnea from 20 U.S. $ (I have my own). To my great surprise, the rent to us each a slice of sponge cake to feed the fish while we’re in the water. Once we are in the water, dozens of tropical fish immediately crowded around us. I think they did a very good exercise. We tore small pieces of fish and biscuits for them, even if the food was only a few inches of our masks. Yellow snappers, sergeant majors, parrotfish and occasional no fear, we all. At any given time, my partner, in a larger piece of his spot and some of the fish nibble rushes into them. After about an hour in hot water, it’s time to goodbye to our new friends aquatic organisms. This experience Coki Bay with the fish was one of the factors that ultimately influenced my partner, a certified diver herself.Another $ 15 U.S. taxi ride gave us back in port the cruise ship, where we have the rest of the day for the ride on the large number of duty-free shops that are staying. A snorkel trip tour through the cruiseship would have cost us twice the amount paid. St. Thomas is not an island at low cost for the passengers of cruise ships or complaints, but the tourists staying for more comfort and quality of the island are quite remarkable in comparison to many other destinations in the Caribbean. In my readings, the other islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint-Jean and Sainte-Croix, are relaxed and less commercial than St. Thomas. I would like to visit another return in St. Thomas, in the future for several days for a diving trip. For those who think on a cruise in the Caribbean, I recommend that St. Thomas is one of the ports. It is one of the best Caribbean on the route to reach.
